RESIDE, David Arthur – June 7, 1938 to February 29, 2012. David was born in Yarmouth, NS. He attended Acadia University and worked as a professional chemical engineer until his retirement when he moved to Lantzville, BC with his wife and two younger daughters. He was an avid cyclist and swimmer and was known to many people in the area as the “Kidney Man” because of his energetic canvassing for the Kidney Foundation every March for 12 years. David died peacefully in the early morning of February 29th in the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after a relatively short but intense battle with dementia. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, son Jim, daughters Jane, Francesca and Maya, and grandson Kevin. He requested no service be held for him. His ashes will be returned to his beloved Nova Scotia. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Canadian Kidney Foundation in David’s name.
