AVERY, ELVA MAE - Mrs. Elva Mae Avery, wife of the late Leonard Avery, of Hierlihy Road, Tabusintac, passed away Thursday evening, March 22, 2012 at her late residence at the age of 92. Born in Tabusintac, Mrs. Elva Mae Avery was the daughter of the late James William and Ella Mae (Hornibrook) Johnston. She was a secretary and a homemaker. Elva was a member of St-Andrew’s United Church, and had a life membership with the U.C.W. She was active in both the church and the community. Mrs. Elva Mae Avery is survived by two daughters, Nancy Avery-Easter (Fred Easter) of Tabusintac and Joanne Avery (Noel Brissard) of Scotland; her son, Brian (Gloria) of Tabusintac; and one brother, Arthur Johnston. As well, five grandchildren, Christopher (Monique), Lori (Greg), Lisa (Colin), Ryan (Krista) and Amy (Jason) and eight great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Korbyn, Ethan, Katlyn, Jasmine, Keaira, Addison and Liam. Besides her parents and her husband, she was pre-deceased by one daughter, Janice in 2010; four brothers, Harry, Winson, Earl and James; and five sisters, Emma MacKenzie, Janet Shaw, Violet Jackson, Agnes Marshall and Reta Blake.
Mrs. Elva Mae Avery is resting at St-Andrew’s United Church, Tabusintac, with visitation today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at St-Andrew’s United Church at 3pm with Rev. Lori Beth Sheffield-Bowles officiating, assisted by Rev. JD Kennedy. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Tabusintac at a later date. In Elva’s memory, donations may be made to St- Andrew’s United Church, Tabusintac Nursing Home or to a memorial of one’s choice.
