ALBERT, Dr. DARIUS - At the Edmundston Regional Hospital on Friday, March 23, 2012, Dr. Darius J. Albert, husband of the late Margaret (Dolly) Larlee (2007), passed away. He was 98 years old. Darius was born in Edmundston, N.B. He is survived by his children, Suzanne (Lauréat Gagnon) of Edmundston, Jean-Marc (Irma) of Baker Lake, N.B., Michèle (James Kilfoil) of Quispamsis; his grandchildren, André (Nancy), Denis (Marilyne), and François (Chantal) Albert, Sylvie Gagnon Bérubé (Paul), Louise Gagnon Roussel (Paul), and John (Julie) and Patrick Kilfoil (Marie-Pier Cloutier) and eight great-grandchildren; sisters in law Rachel Albert (late Alpha) and Adeline (late Léonide), and brother in law Herbert (Harry) Larlee. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Dr. Albert was the first radiologist at the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in Edmundston and practiced from 1941 to 1977. He attended Laval University in Quebec City where he obtained his medical degree; he then specialized in Radiology at McGill University including one year in London, England. He was a World War II veteran having served overseas in England and France with Régiment de la Chaudière as medical officer. He was active in different community associations and served as President of Edmundston School Board, the Edmundston Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. He was a life member of the Madawaska Medical Society as well as the New Brunswick Medical Society. He was a memeber of the Canadian Legion, Edmundston Branch. He spent many enjoyable summers at his cottage at Baker Lake, N.B. and was most happy surrounded by family and friends.
Resting at JB Côté Funeral Home, 160 Church St, Edmundston, visitation will take place on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
