Evelyn was born on July 29, 1927 in Vanguard. She attended Douglas country school and Vanguard school. In her early years, She worked as a Nurses Aide in Fort San, Gravelbourg and Pontiex. During this time she met the love of her life, Emil Peter Hopfner. One thought was going through her mind, "Could I have this dance and would you be my partner for the rest of my life". They were married on October 28, 1949 in Regina, SK. Together they created a great family and legacy. For most of her life she was a hotel person. She was the chief cook and bottle washer. Soon the family started growing as Larry, Brent and Sherry gave “Nana and Bumpa” the gift of grandchildren! Evelyn soon became known to ALL as "Nana". She could meet new friends with ease and was noted for her great meals, bread, buns, pies and goodies. She loved her family dearly and always found time to love and support them. She loved family gatherings the most and especially loved the family poker games. Faith was a big part of Nana’s life. She was very proud to receive her 60 year CWL pin in 2011. In the past year and a half, Nana had to make serveral adjustments to her life. She made each change with a positive attitude. In November 2011, she moved to Swift Current and lived there for a year before moving to the Foyer in Ponteix. Evelyn is survived by her children; son, Larry (Pam) Hopfner of Lac Pelletier and their family; Kathy (Warren) Wilkins, and their children, Keshia (Trevor), and Harper, Tanai and Taytum; Karri (Dwight) Sachkowski and their children Kyler and Raine; Shauna (Quintin) Cairns and their children Keynan and Addi, all of Shaunavon.
