October 1, 1950 – April 1, 2012 of Colliers, age 61 years. Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his mother and father Bridget and Tim Murphy; his infant brother James Martin; his nephews Gordon Whelan, Cory Murphy and Sean Myers; his grandnephews Jordan Whelan and Aaron Whelan. Left to mourn his sad loss are his brothers John (Floss), Martin (Cathy), Tim (Aggie), James (Linda), sisters Margie Whelan (John deceased), Mary Thorn (Jim), Dorothy Goldstein (Gary deceased), Virginia Myers (Jim), Elaine Connors (Cyril), Cathy (Larry Gushue), Uncle Ron Whelan as well as his devoted friend Brian Ryan. He is survived by a large extended family, former co-workers and friends. Eugene was a long time employee of the Eastern School District and organist of Immaculate Conception Church Colliers. Eugene will be resting at Conway’s Funeral Home, Conception Harbour. Visitation Monday April 2 from 2pm – 9 pm, Tuesday April 3 from 10 am – 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Colliers. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to a charity of one’s choice.
