October 1, 1950 – April 1, 2012 of Colliers, age 61 years. Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his mother and father Bridget and Tim Murphy; his infant brother James Martin; his nephews: Gordon Whelan, Cory Murphy and Sean Myers; his grandnephews: Jordan Whelan and Aaron Whelan. Left to mourn his sad loss are his brothers: John (Floss), Martin (Cathy), Tim (Aggie), James (Linda); sisters: Margie Whelan (John deceased), Mary Thorn (Jim), Dorothy Goldstein (Gary deceased), Virginia Myers (Jim), Elaine Connors (Cyril), Cathy (Larry Gushue), Uncle Ron Whelan; as well as his devoted friend Brian Ryan. He is survived by a large extended family, former co-workers and friends. Eugene was a long time employee of the Eastern School District and organist of Immaculate Conception Church, Colliers. Eugene will be resting at Conway’s Funeral Home, Conception Harbour. Visitation Monday April 2 from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m., Tuesday April 3 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Colliers. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to a charity of one’s choice.
