Helen Marjorie Durrant (Cook) of Sidney, B.C. passed away peacefully March 31, 2012. She was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan in 1926. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Isabel Cook, long time residents of Herbert and Regina, and her sister Marion (Anderson). She is survived by her brothers Gerald and Barry and her sister Glennis (Sunderland) and by her husband, Fred Durrant, children Douglas, Stephen and Beverley (Moghrabi), six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Marjorie attended school in Herbert, then studied at the University of Saskatchewan obtaining a degree in Household Science in 1947. While at University she was active in sports, particularly track and field and basketball. She served a term as Chair of the University’s Women’s Athletic Board. Marjorie was an accomplished artist and exhibited works in Cairo, Ottawa, Regina and Saskatoon. Her prairie landscapes grace many homes in Canada and around the world. Marjorie was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her wonderful sense of humour and giving nature will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
