MacDonald, Peter Barry, of Ft. Lauderdale, passed away on April 2, 2012, just 3 weeks shy of his 76th birthday. Born on April 24, 1936 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was part of a curling team with his Uncle Wen and father, Daniel Elmer, which won the 1954 Canadian Championship. Peter served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army and eventually settled in Ft. Lauderdale. In the pool business for 43 years, he ultimately owned and operated Vortex/Rule Pool Services. Peter had a special knack for making people laugh with his witty sense of humor. He was proud of his Scottish and Canadian heritage and known for his love of Walt Disney World and the Miami Dolphins. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Grace; sons George and Jim (Julie); daughter Juli; grandchildren Kyle, Cody and Lindsay; 4 siblings and extended family in the U.S. and Canada. The family would like to thank Dr. Luis Barreras and the Imperial Point MC Staff. The grandchildren would also like to extend a special thanks to “Buck Benny, Wally Snurgles and Henry Wetdydle” for the memories. As Peter watches over us from Heaven, he is sure to raise a glass and say “Cheers!” In response, we say “Cheers, Peter, Cheers.” It’s time to rest in Heaven now. You deserve it. Arrangements have been made by the Neptune Society where Peter will be scattered at sea.
