MYERS, Leo Patric - 77 of Greenwood. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing at home of Leo on March 28, 2012. He was born in Eastern Passage, the son of the late Harold and Laura (Mosher) Myers. Leo served in the Canadian military for 34 years and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion since his retirement. First and foremost, he was a kind and caring family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Vivianne (Aube), three adoring daughters:  Kim (Steve) Stuart, Halifax, Helen (Chuck) Shields, Middleton, and Lynn (Ken) Knox, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E and the loves of his life, his five grandchildren: Martine (Greg) Howes, Central Islip, NY, Evan Shields, Winnipeg, Ryan Shields, Halifax, Geoffrey Stuart, Halifax, and Kyla Shields, Wolfville. They dearly loved and will miss their “Poppy”. Also survived by brother, Raymond Myers, Eastern Passage, sisters: Jean Hudak, Cow Bay, Stella Ollevier, Winnipeg, Audrey Lentine, Toronto, Doris (Don) Warwick, Cow Bay, and Thelma (Leonard “Hank”) Snow, Cow Bay, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William Myers, Cow Bay and sister, Shirley MacDougall, Cow Bay.  Leo was a sweet and gentle man who loved gardening and could not wait for spring each year to get started. He could fix anything and everything, often “rigging up” something ingenious to make it work. He was a storyteller, often entertaining listeners with tales of his life and his travels around the world. Inspired by his love of learning, his three daughters have all become educators.  The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Yafai for his many years of excellent care, often going above and beyond to ensure Leo’s quality of life. Special thanks to paramedics, firefighters, RCMP, Padre Bastien and Father Tim Nelligan for their support and professionalism at the time of Leo’s passing, and for friends and neighbours, especially Rex and Pat Young who assisted in so many ways over the past few years. He had numerous visits from the Victorian Order of Nurses over the past three years and never failed to express his gratitude for their kindness and wonderful care. Leo received the wonderful gift of a kidney 17 years ago from an unknown donor whose generosity allowed him to enjoy many wonderful years. We will always be indebted. Leo always believed in helping others, and when it was his time of need, so many others came forward to help him. Thank you.  Funeral service was held at the Queen of Heaven Chapel, 14 Wing  Greenwood, NS on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. A reception followed. By request, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo’s memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.  Online Guest Book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
