M. Rhodie and Frances B. Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of very special parents and grandparents, M. Rhodie Smith, age 85 on March 30, 2012 and Frances B. Smith, age 80 on April 2, 2012. Predeceased by baby John Smith, as well as their parents, three sisters and one brother. Family was Rhodie and Frances’ greatest passion. Their children and grandchildren will be forever blessed by the love they shared. Never wanting to be apart, and each completing the other’s life, they died within 3 days of each other, both surrounded by the loving family that they had so well taught. They departed this Earth trusting in God and knowing that they were loved beyond measure. Although confined to their own home for a number of years due to health reasons, they were never alone, Family, neighbors, and many friends constantly filled their home and they found great enjoyment in these visits. Through these acts of kindness they remained very much a part of their community until their deaths. Left to cherish many wonderful family memories are their two children: Doris (Calvin) Powell and Roland (Joy) Smith; four grandchildren,: Rebecca and Michael Powell and Tiffany and Victoria Smith. Also one sister Lydia Bray and brother John R. Barrett (Enid); as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, neighbors, friends, and caregivers. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Compassionate Home Care, Carbonear General Hospital, and Interfaith Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to our parents, also Dr. S. Howse, Newman, Xu, & Lee for their care and support during this difficult time. Resting at Lynch’s Funeral Home, Spaniard’s Bay.
