DURHAM – Judith Darlene “Judy” Campbell, 59, Durham, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late George Fulton and Abby Elizabeth (Feltmate) Huggan. Judy had operated a bed and breakfast in her home with her husband, Sonny for 17 years. She had been very active with Sylvester Recreation for 15 years and was instrumental in the creation of the children’s recreation program. Judy faithfully tended her flower gardens, which contained more than a hundred varieties of flowers and plants. She enjoyed listing to music and spending time with her mini horses, Daisy and Jenny. She worked tirelessly for the labour movement, alongside her husband for many years. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend.
Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Malcolm Neil “Sonny” Campbell; sons, Neil (Cheryl) and their children, Gabriel, Tristan and Shelby, Rogers Hill; John (Kim) and their children, Nicholas and Layla, Pictou; sisters, Karen MacFarlane (Robert O’Brien), Tatamagouche; Melda (Jack) Langille, Jeddore; brothers, Glenn (Mary), Wayne (Chris), Allen (Marie), Westville; nieces and nephews, Michael, Lisa, Kevin, Trevor, George, Lynn, Michael and Natasha.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Stephen; nephew, Harvey.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in West River Presbyterian Church, Durham with Rev. Barbara Fotheringham officiating.
