It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Johnny MacLeod age 59 of Glace Bay. Johnny passed away at his residence on Monday, April 9, 2012.
Born in Glace Bay Johnny was the son of the late David and Christine (Cormier) MacLeod.
Johnny and his grandchildren treasured the time they spent together. He enjoyed going to the Screaming Eagles hockey games (never missing a game). He also was a big fan of Nascar. He was outgoing and always had a smile. He loved spending time with his best friend, Jimmy MacLeod.
Johnny will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Joanne (Gallant) MacLeod; daughter, Lorraine MacLeod (Tracey); sons, John David MacLeod (Rose), Donald Thomas MacLeod (Cheryl), Daniel Joseph MacLeod; brothers, Thomas (Rose), Charlie (Dorothy); sisters, Marie (Wardy), Loulabelle (Boo), Theresa (Tommy), Florence (Donnie). Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Leslea Cloake, Ainsley Cloake, Shae-Lynn Cloake, Trinity Gallant, Dominic Candelora and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Johnny will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church foyer.
