Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s on Sunday, April 8, 2012 in the company of his beloved family, Dr. Gerald Manuel Walwyn Hewitt. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 50 years Dorothy, sons Brian (Lori) and Barry (Elizabeth), and grandchildren Gabrielle, Daniel, Spencer and Ethan. Predeceased by his parents James and Phoebe Hewitt. Dr. Hewitt was a retired dentist, originally from Barr’d Islands; who spent much of his life in Gander, NL. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and The Shriners. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue in St. John's.
