It is with joy and sadness that we announce the passing of Gertrude Jane Dunne on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 in her 95th year. Originally from Fortune, NL, she took up residence in Corner Brook in 1982. Gertrude is survived by her sons: John (Doris), Ralph (Agnes), Corner Brook, NL, Ron (Bonnie) Calgary, AB, her daughter, Lynette Dunne-Lake (Doug), Barrie, ON and son-in-law, Phillip Simms, Amherst, NS. Her grandsons: Robert (Geraldine), Jason (Rosalind), Corner Brook, NL, Stephen (Susan), Amherst, NS, Peter (Tina), Spencer, Barrie, ON, Gregory (Michelle) Orangeville, ON, Her granddaughters; Sharon Dunne-Kotowich (Paul), St. Paul, AB, Janice Verhagen (Bryan), Stephenville, NL, Deidre Dunne, Kippens, NL, Phylis Simms (Pete), Corner Brook, NL. Her great- grandchildren: Colin, Jennifer, Tiffany, Emily, Jonathan, Kristina, Rebecca, Alicia, Sara, Reilly, Danika, Rayen, Natalie, Eric and Maiya. Her great-great grandchildren: Nickolas, Thalia and Vinol, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Gertrude is predeceased by her husband John (1989), daughter Helen (Bette) Simms (2005) and granddaughter Marilyn (1982) Visitation: Friday, April 13th 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook. “Celebration of Life” ceremony and burial of ashes will occur at a later date to be announced. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
