Born Jan 01, 1929 in Prince Albert, Sask. to the late Birg and Svea Haugen (Anderson) and died Mar 30, 2012 at Mountain View Lodge with his daughter Karen by his side.
Graveside Services were held April 04, 2012 at Lytton Village Cemetery in Lytton, where his ashes were interred next to his loving wife Rita who predeceased him in 2009. Lawrence like Rita loved the spirit of a great small town life. “Haugie” as he was known to co-workers, friends had a good working life starting with Spencer’s Dept. Stores in Vancouver, then being asked to work for Diamond S. Ranch, (Pavilion) and Earlscourt Farms, Johnder Basran, T&H Transport, Ministry of Highways where he retired from in 1988.
Haugie leaves his five sons, three daughters: Cyril (Bev), Karen Haugen, Judy McKay, Larry, Doug (Denise), Shirley (Vernon) Raphael, Gerald (Melody) and John also his many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, From his original sibling group Haugie has 10 sisters and two brothers who survive him as well as nieces and nephews near and far.
Haugie loved to go camping with his family when they were younger and loved Lac Des Roches in the Cariboo spending over 21 years of gathering at their family cabin.
The family thanks everyone for their kindness, generosity, sympathy and prayers, to the many friends who journeyed far to pay their respects. Our praise to those who work at Mountain View Lodge and the dedication they have to those needing care. In Lytton we honour also his caregiver Wendy.
