Victor Alfred Aspvik
April 1, 1929 – April 12, 2012
Victor Alfred Aspvik, late of Prince Albert, SK., passed away peacefully on April 12, 2012 at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, B.C. at the age of 83. Victor was born on April 1, 1929 at the Red Cross Hospital in Paddockwood, SK to Alfred & Hazel Aspvik. He grew up on a farm just north of Paddockwood. He loved farming and was a farmer all his life. He married Mary Williams on April 23, 1949 and they had two sons, Jerry & Terry. In 1964, they moved to Spruce Home, where Vic drove school bus and was also a carpenter for the Rural School District #56 until his retirement in 1994. After their retirement they spent their summers in Saskatchewan while their winters were spent in Duncan, B.C.
Vic is survived by his loving wife Mary; his two sons: Jerry (Barbara) & Terry; his three granddaughters: Jacquie (Robin) Sundelin & their children Marissa & Kaleb, Nicole (Ryan) Shore & their children Kendall, Kieran & Nova and Natalie (Bob) Hawkeswood & their children Brianne, Rachelle & Ryley. He is also survived by his sisters: Alietha Beckman & Gladys Kuzyk; his brother: Helmer (Lois) Aspvik; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ken Beckman, Lila (Alymer) Jefferies, Doug Williams, Fern Schwartz, Opal Williams and Patricia (Case) Entius as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Vic is predeceased by his great grandson: Patterson Shore; his parents: Alfred & Hazel Aspvik; his sisters: Alice (in infancy), Helen Thompson and Myrtle Beckman; his brother: Richard; his brothers-in-law: Rob Thompson, John Kuzyk, Earl Beckman, Herb Williams and Lloyd Schwartz.
In lieu of tributes, donations may be placed to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, #4 – 466 Trans Canada Hwy, Duncan, BC V9L 3R6.
