Gerald Stanley David Crawford, 85, of Halifax, passed away December 19, 2009 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary. Born August 24, 1924 in Metis Beach, Quebec, he was the son of the late Norman and Eileen (Tuggey) Crawford. Jerry was employed for most of his career with the Foundation Company of Canada, who worked across our great country on numerous large infrastructure projects, including both bridges spanning Halifax and Dartmouth. His passion for construction also involved him in the construction of many other major projects such as the Scotia Square, Dalhousie Life Sciences Centre and the HMC Dockyard submarine lift. Jerry was a great story teller, with a wonderful sense of humour, an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and, in his younger days, loved to swing the odd golf club. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by daughters Corinne (Ray) Landry: Halifax; Susan (David) Gray: Quispamsis, N.B.; Kimberley (Danny) Lewis: Moncton, N.B.; son William (Marian): Antigonish, N.S.; sister Norma Tanguay; Mississauga, ON.; grandchildren Jamie Leigh, Peter, Ian, Christopher, Billy, Heather, Ryan, Kyle; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Helen (McAleer) of Borden-Carleton, P.E.I. Cremation has taken place under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601). There will be a private family service, with interment to take place at a later date. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com. Jerry’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Melville Lodge and Glades Lodge for the care and compassion shown to him through the years while a resident.
