NEW GLASGOW – Roy, William “Clyde”, 89, of Glen Haven Manor, formerly of Grant Street, New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, December 20th, 2009, at the manor.
Born in Westville, Clyde was a son of the late William and Jessie (McCuish) Roy.
Clyde spent his early years in Westville, going on to live his working years in Ontario. He returned to New Glasgow 10 years ago.
A ball player in his early years, Clyde was inducted into the Halifax and Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame. He worked for Brewers Retail in Ontario for a number of years.
Clyde was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. He enjoyed travelling and spending winters in Florida with his wife, Isabel.
He was the last surviving member of his family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Isabel Robertson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by sister, Edna, brother, Sid.
Cremation has taken place. A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery. Donations in memory of Clyde may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
