TURNER, ROBERT “JOHN” - (1960 - 2012) - Mr. Robert "John" Turner of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island was called home from the sea on Monday April 30, 2012 when he was working aboard his lobster boat “Slip Knot” with his crewmen by his side. He was born the son of Harold and Barbara (Davies) Turner at Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax in December of 1960. John spent his early working years in Halifax for the Port Authority for fourteen years. Later he convinced his wife Jayne to move back to her childhood community of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island where they bought their home and he worked alongside his father-in-law Bev aboard the “Partner” lobster fishing. With his love of the sea and lobster fishing John eventually was on his own taking over for Bev and eventually into a newer vessel “Slip Knot”. He attended the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church with Jayne. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Jayne (Brown) Turner. His mother Barbara Eisenhauer of Halifax, NS, one son Zackary Turner of NS, one sister Leah Turner of Windsor Junction, NS, one step-sister Alison Eisenhauer of East Lahave, NS, one brother Blair Turner of Yellowknife, NT, and on step-brother Dan Eisenhauer of North ancouver, BC. Also Jayne’s entire family, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Harold at an early age, and later by his step father Martin Eisenhauer.
Visiting for John’s friends and neighbors will take place from the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the church on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Ward McComiskey officiating. Interment will follow at the Spruce Grove Cemetery.
