LEBLANC, Gerald Gordon - It is with great sadness, the family of Gerald Gordon LeBlanc announce his passing on April 26, 2012, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, surrounded by his loving family. In his 73rd year, Gerald was born November 4, 1939 in Yarmouth Nova Scotia. The only son of the late Alice and Laurie LeBlanc. He was a teasing yet supportive brother to his sisters; Cecilia (predeceased), Shirley, Doris and Joan. At 18, Gerald began to pursue Hilda Rose Muise. In his 20th year he successfully won her heart, making Hilda his cherished wife and best friend for 52 years, and his beloved, eternally. Words cannot express the depth of his loss to Hilda. Gerald was a true Dad that strived to teach his children the practicalities of life. He leaves behind two, much loved daughters, Wanda Lee (Randy Moore) and Kim-Marie (Dave Rockbrune). Sadly he was predeceased by his only son Jerry Christopher. Gerald has always been a proud granddad, loving fishing buddy, enthusiastic sports fan, creative story teller and teacher to his six grandchildren; Ken Bracken (Kim Strong), Brian Bracken (Lisa Brown), Nicole DeMille (Justin), Mellissa LeBlanc (Murray Lynch), Zachery Rockbrune (Ashley Kelly), and Hannah Rockbrune (Dan Longfield). His stories and teachings will be lovingly passed on to his four great grandchildren; Xavier Bracken, Nevaeh Lynch, Dash Rockbrune and Raiden Lynch. After 33 years as a valued employee of Duplate, Gerald retired in 1998 at the age of 58. In his retirement, he happily pursued his love of fishing and various creative projects. Gerald will also be fondly remembered for his hijinx, stories, and handy man skills by several close friends. Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, 905 433 4711, visitation was held on Thursday May 3rd from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm, and prayers at 3pm. Funeral Service was held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church (Adelaide and Simcoe) on Friday May 4th at 1pm. Charitable donations can be made in Gerald’s memory to the Sick Kids Hospital, the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Liver Foundation.
