Douglas Norman "Gramps" Hamilton August 14, 1922 - November 18, 2007 Our beloved Gramps passed away a little unexpectedly but quietly in Royal Inland Hospital on November 18th, 2007. He leaves to mourn his sons Jim and Gerry of Kamloops, their spouses Margo and Angela, his beloved granddaughter Katie and grandchildren, and families of Tony and Heather Berardi, Patrizia and Al Howson, Milena and Will Moore, and Brian and Hilary in the United States. He is also mourned deeply by sisters, Lil (Doug) Wilson and Ida (George) Barteau of Birtle, Manitoba, sister-in-law Marjorie (John) Cartwright, brother-in-law John Wells, Vanessa Pratt of Vancouver and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Doug was born in Solsgirth, Manitoba, raised and schooled in Birtle and attended the University of Saskatchewan before being called to service in the Royal Canadian Air Force manning radar stations in Great Britain during World War II. After the war he opened an electronic shop in the lower mainland with his good friend, Mac and shortly after met and married the love of his life, Patricia. Doug then signed on with the CNR and later became the signal supervisor for British Columbia and he and Pat moved throughout BC making many dear friends and acquaintances before finally settling in Kamloops in the early 1950's. Doug is predeceased by his wife, Patricia and brother Frank. Our "Gramps" was a class act all the way and was never too busy to help out anyone who needed him. His passing leaves a big void in many hearts which will be impossible to fill. We love and miss you "Gramps" A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Kamloops Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Doug's memory. Email condolences may be sent to sympathy@shawbiz.ca
