TAIT, NORMAN FORBES - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Norman F. Tait of Saint John, husband of the late H. Margaret (MacClelland) Tait, which occurred on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia on February 10, 1912, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Forbes) Tait. Norman was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Agriculture College. He was a member of the Male Choral Club, the Carriden Choir for 30 years, a life member of the Kiwanis Club and the Lancaster Golden Service Club. He was also a member of the Community Concerts for 40 years, and the Tonsilaires Men’s Choir. He was a soloist at St. David’s and St. Andrew’s Church for many years. Norman retired from Baxter Dairies as a Stationary and Refrigeration Engineer. In retirement, Norman and Margaret loved to spend time at their trailer in Chamcook and also enjoyed travelling. Norman enjoyed taking several cruises well into his 90’s. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday with a largely attended open house at his residence, Chateau De Champlain. Norman and Margaret Tait were married on May 14, 1942 and have two daughters, Heather White (Tom) of Quispamsis and Nancy (Tait) Beck of Saint John; three grandchildren, Thomas White (Claire Driscoll), Joan White (Mike Blizzard) and Christopher Beck (Samantha Garnett); three great grandchildren, Nicholas Blizzard, Madison Maughan and Abigail Beck; two nephews, Allan (Joan) and Ian (Mim) Fraser. He was predeceased by his wife, parents and sisters, Sheila Bannister (Tom) and Helen Fraser (Edwin).
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s United Church, Dexter Drive, Saint John West on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm. A private family interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
