It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Patricia McNeil on May 6, 2012.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Burt) McLellan.
At the age of nine, she moved with her family to New Waterford, where she graduated from Mount Carmel High and later CBBC.
Patricia was an avid bingo and card player, who enjoyed going to games with her friends. She also enjoyed watching her children and granddaughter, Molly, play sports.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim McNeil, New Victoria; sons, Kyle (Margaret Ann), Whitby, Ont., Yorke, Red Deer, Alta.; daughter and best friend, Heidi (Jimmy) Muise, New Waterford; mother-in-law, Annie McNeil, Maple Hill Manor; brothers, Jim (Elsie) McLellan, Glace Bay, Fred (Patricia) McLellan, New Waterford; sister, Marlene (Don) Waechter, Port Hawkesbury; brother-in-law, Ray Cameron, Mira; sister-in-law, Hughena McLellan, Lingan. She was Nanna to Molly Muise, Shae and Teagan McNeil.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Peggy Gagne, Kay Cameron and brother, Danny McLellan.
At the family’s request, a private family visitation will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
A funeral mass of celebration will take place Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Victoria, at a later date. A luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Plummer Avenue, New Waterford, immediately following the funeral mass. All are welcome.
