HARE, GORDON E. - Gordon Hare, age 77, of Whitney, NB passed away on May 16, 2012 at his residence. Gordon was born in Whitney, NB and was the only son of the late Ross and Lola (Mullin) Hare. Gordon was a retired Repap (Woodlands Division) employee. He is survived by his wife, Mae (Matchett) Hare; one daughter Sherry (Don) Thorne of Waterdown, Ontario; three sons: Carmen (Shelley) of Strathadam, Terry of Halifax and Trevor (Marsha) of Fredericton. Six stepchildren: Rory (Maria) Matchett of Moncton, Lana (Mark) Rickard of Moncton, Cameron (Edwina) Matchett of Exmoor, Luanne (Frank) Schenkels of Stewiacke, NS, Shayla (Dean) Mutch of Lyttleon, Shane (Krista) Matchett of Sunny Corner. Two sisters: Elva Whitney of Thunder Bay, Ontario and Mona (Darrell) Miller of Moncton; a brother-in-law, Herb Dixson and a sister-in-law Ruby Tower, both of Moncton. Four granddaughters: Allison and Ashley Hare, Angela Thorne and Allisa Hare; twelve stepgrandchildren and one step great-grandson. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Robichaud) Hare and by his sisters: Valerie, Glenna, Viva and Betty.
He will be resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, May 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, May 19, at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Brett Anningson with burial at the St. Philips United Church in Whitney. Members of the Island View Seniors Club of Sunny Corner will form a Guard of Honour. Music will be provided by organist Jackie Allain. In memory of Gordon, a donation to the memorial of one’s choice will be appreciated.
