Sam passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, May 19, 2012 after a long, hard battle with ALS and 15 years on a respirator.
Sam was born in Glace Bay on Sept. 17, 1955. He was the son of Mary Cole (Penny) and the late Allan Cole, Donkin. A few years ago he motored across Canada with his sister Judy and he settled in Calgary for a few years but no matter where he worked, he always came back to Donkin. Sam was unmarried. He always worked in electronics. Sam was employed at one time with Krazy, Krazy and Soundafex. Sam was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He was an excellent dart shooter.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Cole; sisters, Marilyn (Jimmie) MacMullin, Donkin and Judy Cole, Doha Quatar. Also survived by nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his father, Allan Cole; brother, Tommie and sister, Glenda Cole-Hurst.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 23 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s United Church, Donkin. Rev. Chris Matheson officiating, burial in parish cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the ALS society, St. Luke’s United Church, Donkin or a charity of choice.
