LAVERY, ERNEST - Ernest Lavery, loving husband of Susan (Brown-Chadwick) Lavery, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1949 in North Shields, England he was the son of the late George and Whilahmena (Ellis) Lavery. Ernest worked as a Marine Designer/Draftsman at the Saint John Ship Building for 14 years, and then went to Philadelphia to work at the Kvaerner Shipyard for a one year, where he took sick. He had a long battle with a rare disorder. He enjoyed life every day, was loved by family and friends. He loved the sea and boating and fishing in Ontario. He adored his British flag and Opera Music. Erny had a million dollar smile whether he was sick or not. He had many wonderful caregivers. In addition to his loving wife Susan, he is survived by his stepsons Trevor Chadwick (Cindy) of Lorneville, Scott Vincent Chadwick (Melanie) of Grand Bay-Westfield and Darren Chadwick of Saint John; step grandchildren Travis, Courtney and Cameron; sister Hannah Aslin (John) of Kingston, ON; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from St. Mary St. Bartholomew's Church on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
