Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on May 21st, 2012. Predeceased by parents Frederick and Hilda Oates, and siblings Dave and Clara. Leaving to mourn are wife Jessie; children: Paul (Donna), Donald (Bethany), and Jackie (Paul); grandchildren: Matthew, Cassy, Trever, Kayla and Julia; siblings: Beulah (Ralph), Jack (Geraldine), Walter (Jean), Nelson (Linda), Noel (Lois Anne), and Winston (Barbara); in-laws Norma, Verna, and Ernie; and close friend Mr. Senior. A heartfelt thank-you to the dedicated staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy home for their compassion, love and care. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road. Visitation to take place on Tuesday May 22nd, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 23rd, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 24th , 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A celebration of Doug’s life will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Bay Roberts from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home Foundation.
