
Zelda Alfreda Harris (nee Stewart)
The death occurred peacefully at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, of Zelda Harris, loving wife for 66 years of Fred Harris, mother of Gary Harris who predeceased her in 2006. Zelda was in her 90th year, a lifelong resident of Murray Harbour and daughter of the late Elmer and Elsie Stewart.
She is survived by two sisters: Clare (Bunt) Scott and Faye (Alf) Fraser, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her oldest sister Joyce Harris died in 2011. Zelda is survived by the following brothers and sisters-in-laws: Phyllis Harris, George (Lillian) Harris, Anne (Sheldon) Bell, Bert (Pauline) Harris, Beth (Keith) Havill, and Ron (Lorna) Harris. The following brothers and sisters-in-law predeceased her: Bud Scott, Jim (Gladys) Harris, Minnie (Ernie) Beck, Louie Harris, William Harris, John (Norma) Harris.
Zelda had a long teaching career that spanned almost 30 years, first at Murray Harbour and then at Southern Kings.
Zelda is resting at Southern King’s & Queen’s Funeral Home, Murray River, for visitation and funeral service in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 24, at 2 p.m. Interment in Murray Harbour Cemetery.
