It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheldon MacNeil. Sheldon passed away peacefully on May 22, 2012, surrounded by family after a year-long battle with cancer.
Born in Reserve Mines, Sheldon was the son of the late Frank and Caroline (MacDonald) MacNeil.
Sheldon was also predeceased by his sister, Joan and two infant brothers.
Sheldon was retired from Devco. In the summer he liked to spend time in his garage fixing small engines.
He is survived by his wife, Paula (Krewenki); his daughter, Kelly McNeil, Glace Bay; sons, Sheldon (Kim), Glace Bay, Greg (Julie), Howie Centre, Jim (Susan), Gardiner Mines; sister, Pauline MacNeil; and brothers, Wilfred (Frances), Raymond (Brenda), all of Reserve Mines. He is also survived brothers, Elmer (Florence), Glace Bay, John ‘Butch’ (Marilyn), Sydney; and his precious grandchildren, Tyler, Dillan, Haley, Jakob, Madison and Caleb.
In honoring Sheldon’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made to palliative care and the cancer centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Always loved and forever in our hearts. Rest in peace Da.
