ROBERTS, Lawrence Douglas Sr. – On May 22, 2012, the life journey of Lawrence Roberts Sr. ended, and his eternity began in the House of the Lord with his wife, Lina, and his Saviour, Jesus. Born on May 20, 1916 in Pleasant Valley, Yarmouth Co., he was a son of the late Merton E. and Louisa F. (Gavel) Roberts. Lawrence lived in Kemptville the greater part of his life and was very involved with Kemptville United Baptist Church. He had a passion for gardening. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by daughters, Patricia (Harvey) Mood and Miriam (John) Gillis; son, Lawrence Jr. (Judy) Roberts; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Lina (Greene); brother, Warren Roberts; sister, Olga Goodwin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place on Thursday, May 24 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial service was held Friday, May 25 at 2 p.m. from Kemptville United Baptist Church, Rev. Rick Warner officiated. Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery. Family flowers only, please.
