OLDER, Lloyd Edward age 91 years, of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan passed away on May 17, 2012 at the Eastend Wolf Willow Health Centre in Eastend, Saskatchewan. He was born April 20, 1921 in Athelstan, Taylor County, Iowa, the son of Glen and Hannah Older. He attended school in Missouri and Colorado. In 1937, he joined the army at Fort Riley, Kansas. He finished his G.E.D. and two years of business school. Lloyd quickly advanced through the ranks to Master Sergeant in 1940. He saw service with the Office of Strategic Services (O.S.S.) in North Africa and Sicily and the 187 R.C.T. in Korea. Among his awards was the Distinguished Service Medal; Silver Star with “V” for Valor and Oak Leaf; Bronze Star with “V” for Valor and Three Oak Leaf Clusters and Purple Heart with Three Oak Leaf Clusters. In April 1993 he married Peggy Aldag in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He was a member of the Glenedyth Lodge #188, Climax, Saskatchewan, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Great Falls, Montana the Algeria Shrine, Helena, Montana and the Royal Canadian Legion #40, Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, step-son Gerald Aldag and step-granddaughter Gwen Zankl. He is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter-in-law Barb, grandchildren Penny (Rick), Bill (Michelle) and Brian as well as by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A private graveside interment service took place at Veterans Memorial Gardens in Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on Saturday, May 26, 2012 with Pastor Martin Christensen officiating. The Urn Bearer was Wayne Shulson. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
