Jack Hughton

Passed on: May 27th, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Hughton on May 27, 2012 at the age of 83. Jack was born in Moose Jaw and raised in the Tuxford area. He was the son of Rose and Basil Hughton, and brother to Andrew. He attended Carmel School and Tuxford High School where he made many life-long friends. In 1953, Jack along with his brother Andrew purchased the J.I. Case dealership in Moose Jaw. One of his proudest moments was being selected Dealer of the Year in 1986. In addition, after spending many years of their youth helping out their uncles, they were able to realize their dream of purchasing the family farm. In 1954, he married June Brown of Moose Jaw and in 2004 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together. In their later years, both Jack and June enjoyed spending winters in Palm Springs. They especially enjoyed meeting up with their friends while “down south”. Jack was a proud member of Rotary and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He will be dearly missed by his children Andrea (Peter) Davids, John (Christine) Hughton and grandchildren Mark, Andrew, Elspeth, Dougald and Bryden; his sister-in-law, Noreen, his niece Barb (Don), and nephew Basil (Tara), as well as grand-nephews Jamey, Jordie, Kent and Kirk. He was predeceased by his wife June, parents Rose and Basil Hughton, brother Andrew, and grandsons Callum and Ronan Hughton. The Funeral Service will be held at the Alliance Church, corner of 9th Ave. N.W., and Thatcher Drive, on Thursday May 31, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St.E., Moose Jaw, S6H1H3, would be appreciated. In living memory of Jack, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
