Constantinos (Gus) IATRIDIS

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Constantinos, late of Moose Jaw, SK who passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the age of 72 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Constantinos was born in the village of Kastri, Kynourias, Arkadia. He was predeceased by his parents Panayiotis and Stavroula; four siblings, two in infancy, George and Areti, Costantina Iatridis and Afrothiti Hasapis; nephews Ioanis Hasapis and Peter Dimas; In-laws Ioanis and Aspasia Mili; brother-in-law Pericles Ligdas; nephew Nikos Ligdas; and sister-in-law Mary Iatridis. Left to mourn Constantinos's passing are his loving wife of 43 years Afroditi (Freda); son Peter (Electra) Granddaughter Aphrodite Phoebe; son John (Chelsea) Granddaughter Avea Aphrothiti; brothers George (Helen) and Nick; sisters Mary (Chris) Dimas; Irene (Jim) Kourlibinis; Vivian (Jim) Lentzos and Katina (Nicholas) Fourlas; brother-in-law Nick (Cristina) Hasapis; sisters-in-law Maria Ligdas and Christina Mili; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and God children. Gus will also be remembered by many friends and acquaintances especially in Moose Jaw where he leaves a lasting legacy. In Greece he worked as a welder alongside his father. He immigrated to Canada in 1958 and was a pioneer in the Moose Jaw restaurant world as an active partner in the Ambassador Café and later in Rodos Pizza. He was a devoted father, grandfather, husband and Orthodox Christian whose life was dedicated to his family. One of his many passions was his fruit trees which reminded him of his home town in the mountains of Greece. He also loved his local Moose Jaw hockey teams from the early days of the Canucks to standing in the corner of the Civic Centre cheering on the Warriors. But most of all, his new passion was the special loves of his life, his granddaughters “Galiandra” and “Sousourada.” A special thank you to Reverend Spiridon Vandoros and Reverend John Bingham for their love and spiritual guidance and to Dr. Brian Sanderson, the staff at Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Moose Jaw Union Hospital. A COME AND GO RECEPTION for friends to celebrate the life of Gus will be held at Rodos Pizza, Moose Jaw, SK on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A PRAYER SERVICE will be held at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow in Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
