Martha "Bonnie" Bureaux
The death of Martha "Bonnie" Bureaux, age 86, of Amherst occurred on Monday Junes 4. 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Maccan, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Gertrude (Wood) St. Peter.
A former resident of Maccan, in early years she worked at R.W. Loring Store and taught Sunday School. During World War II she was a welder at Canada Car, where she won a beauty contest. During the 60's 70's and 80's she worked as Senior Girls Superintendent with the Interprovincial School For the Deaf. She was a member of Trinity St. Stephen's United Church
"Bonnie" will be sadly missed by her husband of 65 years, George Bureaux; sons, Jim (Holly) and Dean (Kathy); a daughter, Nancy (Wayne) Read; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie (Layton) & Sandra (Jimmy) Read and Lyndsey (Paul) Bureaux; 2 great grandchildren, Bryson and Jackson Gates; step grandchildren Scott (Dawn) and Tina (Davey) Fraser; 3 step great grandchildren, Chloe, Riley and Madison.
She was predeceased by brothers, Jim and Edward St. Peter and 2 half-sisters, Jeanette and Pauline.Bonnie's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service and reception will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11 am, Rev. Susan Estabrooks officiating. Burial in The Amherst Cemetery.
