Passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2012 surrounded in love by family and friends. Predeceased by mother Kathleen (Kay) Hand and mother-in-law Mary Brennan. Leaving to mourn with many beautiful memories his devoted wife Tina (Brennan); precious children Michael, Amy and Jessica; father John Hand, brother Bob Hand (Wanda, Justin and Stephen); sister Tina Serna (Tony, Julian and Tone); sister Lisa Robbins (Wayne Hendry, Emily and Laura); father-in-law Frank (Fanny) Brennan; brothers-in-law Frank Brennan (Anna, Tara, Andrea and Patrick); Bill Brennan (Annemarie Christie); sisters-in-law Elizabeth Philpott (Kevin, Maria and Laura); Ann Connolly (Keith, Stephen and Mark); Eleanor Brennan (Jeff, Tim and Samantha Parsons); Mary Brennan (Walter, Abigail, Rachael and Rebecca Hammond); an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues, especially Drs. Anne Drover, Lynette Bowes and Lisa Goodyear, and Gail Roberts, RN. Special thanks to Drs. Kara Laing, Patrick OShea, Mark Stefanelli, Teri Lynn Stuckless and Nurse April Daley for their unwavering support and compassion. The professionalism and care shown by the staff of the Janeway Hospital, the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Clinic and the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre Rehab Day Services has been deeply appreciated and has helped ease a very difficult time. Jack graduated from Memorial University Medical School in 1990, followed by paediatric residency and a paediatric oncology fellowship in British Columbia. He returned to Newfoundland in 1997 to practise as a Paediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at the Janeway Childrens Hospital. Jack served as a positive role model for his colleagues and students by his love, compassion and humour. He has had a tremendous impact on the lives of the children and families in his care. He will be deeply missed by all. Resting at Cauls Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, Friday 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00, Saturday 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00, and Sunday 2:00-5:00.
