Calvin R. Young of Moose Jaw passed away Wednesday June 6, 2012 at the age of 84. Cal was born to Percy and May Young and spent his younger years in the Willen, MB district. He married the love of his life Irene in 1952, and this July they would have been married 60 years. Cal, Irene and their children resided in Regina where Cal worked for IHC and R .J. Fyfe Equipment. In 1967 the family moved to Weyburn where Cal and Irene worked together as managers of the cafeteria at Western Christian College. In 1975 he returned to the implement dealership of IHC in Moose Jaw then eventually with Case International - Eagle Farm Equipment. Cal spent another several years in food services at Pioneer Lodge. After his retirement in 1993 he was a driver for the Moose Jaw Volunteer Driver Association. Cal was a member of the Church of Christ and served his Lord in service to others and also served as a Deacon and Elder. The phrase “Well done thou good and faithful servant” sums up what our Dad and husband was to us and to so many who were privileged to know him. Predeceased by his parents Percy and May, half-brother Arthur Ashby, sister Marie Johnson; and mother and father-in-law Mervyn and Laura Goodwin. Cal is survived by his loving and caring wife Irene; children: Lew (Kathy) and their children, Brett, Beckie (Kevin) and Papa’s adorable great-granddaughters Chloe and Mia – all of Moose Jaw; Lyonell - of Toronto, Sherri and her children Cora, Kayln, Desmond, Wyatt and Teshia,- all of Saskatoon; sister Eileen Johnson – Winnipeg; sisters and brother-in-law Evelyn Aasen, and Gordon (Mildred) Goodwin; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Celebration of Cal’s life will be held at Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw on Monday June 11, 2012 at 3:30 pm. Darrell Buchanan, Minister of the Church of Christ will officiate. Memorialization will follow at Sunset Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
