FORBES, JOHN D. - 1934 - 2012 - John Donald Forbes, husband of Joyce Forbes, of Brookfield Ave, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012, at the age of 78. Born in Nashwaak Bridge, NB, on March 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Raymond and Estella (McGivney) Forbes. An avid fisherman, John, was a well known and established salesman in the automotive industry on the Miramichi. He was a member of St Andrews United Church, a former member of Session, the Miramichi Chapter of the Highland Society, Newcastle Curling Club and a long time volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joyce Tait, three daughters Suzanne Matheson (Andrew) Connie Jenkins (Gordon) of Miramichi and Judy O'Connor (Bryan) of Lantz, NS; two sons, Steve Forbes of West Hills California, USA, Donnie Forbes (Patricia Harris) of Miramichi; seven grandchildren, Tara, Allison, Erica, Greg, Michael, Madison, Riley; two great grandchildren, Alexandra and Layla; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Mac, Eugene and James Forbes.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St on Thursday, from 7 to 9 pm and Friday, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Funeral service will be held from St Andrews United Church, Miramichi on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 2:00pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene MacGuire MacKnight. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, Riverside Cemetery or a Charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
