OTTERSON, Evangeline Belle “Vangie” – formerly of Elm Street, Truro, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, June 16, 2012, at Val’s Rest Home, Hilden, where she had resided since August 2011. Born in Clark’s Harbour, Shelburne County, she was a daughter of the late James and Isabel (Nickerson) Stoddard. In earlier years, Vangie attended Rockland Academy. She worked as a Floor Manager at Bentley’s Ltd., Truro, until they closed and then worked at Yould’s Limited for s short time. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Barrington Passage, and was affiliated with Immanuel Baptist Church, Truro. Vangie is survived by her brother, Leighton (Mary) Stoddart, Masstown; sisters-in-law, Leona Stoddard, Florence Stoddard, Barrington; half-sister-in-law, Bertha Smith, Yarmouth; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Alfred Otterson; sister, Hazel Geneva (Douglas) Croft; brothers, Stanley (Anita) Stoddard, George Stoddard, Alpheus “Alfie” Stoddard, Lindsay (Nelda) Stoddard; half-sisters, Sadie (Keith) Smith, Etta (Claude) Ross; half- brothers, Alton (Chloe) Smith, Myrvil Smith, Angus Smith. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012, Reverend Kaj Binderup officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Belmont. Family flowers only.
