Mary MacNeil died peacefully on June 25, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Low Point, she was the daughter of the late Waldon MacGillivray and Laura Mae Ling.
She was a member of the former St. Alphonsus parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard.
Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bernard Hector MacNeil; children, Bernadette (Gerard) Gillis, Bernie (Patsy), Marian (Doug), Frank, Wally (Lorna), Patricia, Jimmy, Blaise (Susan), Pauline and Greg (Tracey); grandchildren, Christine, Keith (Lisa), Stephen (Nicola), Brian (Amanda), Michael, Maureen, Nichole, Kevin, Matthew, Josh, Jessie, Hejira, Grace and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alexa Mae, Bryce, Jaylee; brothers, James L. and Blaise MacGillivray; sisters, Geraldine MacSween and Bernadette Dunphy.
Mary was predeceased by her brother, Waldon MacGillivray and her sisters, Genevieve, Laura, Muriel and Lenora.
Visitation will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, on Wednesday, June 27 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Paul MacGillivray officiating and Fr. Ray Huntley concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Victoria Mines, with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard’s Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
