Alfred "Fred" Leger

LEGER, ALFRED "FRED" - Alfred "Fred" Leger, 69, of Shediac, passed away on Sunday, June 24th 2012 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital. Born December 19, 1942 in Dorchester Crossing, he was the son of the late Sévère and Yvonne (Despres) Leger. He was also predeceased by his sister Claudette and his brother Paul. He is survived by Francine née Boudreau, his beloved wife of 42 years; three children: Nathalie Wandler (Jon) of Kamloops, BC, Martin (Janice) of Shediac River, and Luc of Vancouver Island; two grandchildren: Tristan and Brooke Wandler; three sisters: Muriel Leger and Emelda McKinnon (Dwight) both of Shediac, Bernice Costanzo (Placido) of Massachusetts; a brother, René (Simone) of Shediac; many nieces and nephews and his favorite dog Lucy. Fred was an extremely friendly, outgoing man who touched many lives. He enjoyed over 34 years with Canada Post and got to know most, if not all, of the people of Shediac. He was a third degree Knight of Columbus. He loved being a scout leader, a birdwatcher, a gardener, a cross-country skier, a beachcomber and a grandfather. He spent many hours walking and cycling around town. He loved music and was never too far from the radio. He loved his family and friends deeply and was always willing to lend a hand, share a meal or have a laugh. He loved travelling with Mom and got to visit many great places. He especially loved going to B.C. to see his grandchildren Tristan and Brooke who were his pride and joy.
Dad’s last few years have not been easy and his illness did slow him down considerably but he never complained and was always grateful for the time he got to spend with his loved ones. Fred will surely be missed by many but he will never be forgotten. “Love You Dad!”
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297).
