Ruby Coates
It is with great sadness that the family of Ruby Irene Coates age 90, announces her passing on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Annie (Sanger) Hiseler.
Ruby was a wonderful mother, an Air Force Wife who spent the first fifteen years of her marriage subject to the frequent transfers dictated by the forces if not physically separated from her beloved husband Bill when remote duty assignments called him away. Her first real home was their farm in Aulac, N.B. where she and Bill lived happily for 34 years. Ruby was also an artist and sold many of her paintings from a roadside stand in Aulac in what little spare time was afforded after raising six children.
Ruby is survived by three sons Jon (Karen) Coates of Halifax, James (Barbara) Coates of Amherst and Joseph Coates (Karen) of Shediac, NB; three daughters Judith (Stephen) Browarski of Orleans, ON, Joyclin Coates (Paul) of Halifax and Jennifer Haire of Victoria, BC, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and one sister Jacqueline Sarsfield of Gravenhurst, ON, .
She was predeceased by her husband William, granddaughter Elizabeth Coates, her twin sister Ruth Horne and a brother Bob Hiseler.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Byron Corium officiating.
Her ashes will be interred in the Amherst Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Ruby's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stoke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetic Association or a charity of your choice.
