We, the family of Edward F. King, regretfully announce his passing on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Florence on March 9, 1940, he was the youngest son of the late Edward C. and Annie Mae (Carter) King. He was a member of St. Stephen's parish, Florence.
Ed worked for many years for the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his three sons, Karl (Karen) and Chris (Colleen), both of Sydney Mines, and Paul (Melissa), Howie Center. Also left to mourn their Poppy are his loving grandchildren, whom he loved deeply, Ryan, Erin, Brennan, Sean, Joel, Sarah, Alicia and Maria. Ed is also survived by his brother, Joseph King; sister, Theresa LeBlanc, the mother of his children, Bernice (Mancini) King, as well as many loved nieces, nephews and friends.
Dad is now at eternal rest with his eldest son Kevin; brothers, Clifford and David; sisters, Margaret and Marie and Edward's partner, Ruth Leadbetter.
Visitation for Edward King will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass celebrating his life will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, Florence, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in the parish hall, after the burial.
Donations in Ed's memory may be made to the Palliative Care Society or the Northside Hospital Foundation.
