With broken hearts, we the family, sadly announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Elma Lettice. She lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, June 29, 2012, at home while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Justine (Shay) Walsh.
Elma was a loving caregiver to her parents and brother, Carnie, for the past several years. She enjoyed bingo, flea markets, and spending time with her family.
Elma is survived by her loving husband, John Lettice; her son, Paul (Margaret) Lettice of North Sydney; her four grandchildren that she loved dearly, Taylor, Kristina, Nicholas and Hannah; by her five sisters, Joan Cort, Selena Harris, Barbara Walsh, Helen McGean (Liam), Mary MacIntyre (Rollie), all of North Sydney; her brothers, Danny (Ruth) Walsh, Richard (Ann) Walsh and her special brother, Clarence (Carnie) Walsh, all of North Sydney; her many nieces and nephews as well as her good friend, Liz Evans.
Besides her parents, Elma was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Daniel MacIntyre and Fred Harris.
Visitation for Elma will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Cremation will follow and a private family interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will be held at a later date.
