It is with great sadness that the family of Doris E. McKay age 84, of Amherst announce her passing on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Amherst she was a daughter of the late John W. and Mary-Ellen (Rector) Perry.
Doris enjoyed baking, listening to music as well as singing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her two daughters, Karen (Eric) Arseneau, Amherst and Nancy (Doug) Caldwell, Mississauga, ON; beloved grandchildren, Jillian and Michael Arseneau and Cameron and Austin Caldwell; loved siblings, Mary Davis, Patricia Burrell, John (Marion) Perry, Reuben (Leah) Perry and Roger (Germain) Perry all of Amherst, Amos (Eileen) Perry, Maccan, Audrey (Ed) Pinsent, Halifax, NS, Gwen Shier, Trenton, ON, Edith Crossman and Seatta Sweezy both of Sault St. Marie, ON; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides her husband Kenneth McKay, Doris was also predeceased by her sisters, Vina Deaveaux, Katherine Hepting, Sheila Perry and Joan Louise Perry; brother Keith Perry.
A special thank you to the staff at Gables Lodge and the nurses on second floor of Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for all their care and kindness.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. all in Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, NS.
Deacon Howard Gotell will officiate.
Interment will follow in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
Memorial donations in Doris's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
