It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Douglas Daisley, announce his passing on July 10, 2012.
Born in South Harbour on April 9, 1935, he was the son of David and Mary (MacDonald) Daisley. He was a member of St. Joseph's parish, Dingwall.
Douglas enjoyed fishing, playing darts and woodworking, but what brought him the biggest joy in life was being surrounded by children. He was thought of as a father by many. He was well liked by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed.
Douglas is survived by the woman who was his world and the love of his life, Yvonne. He is also survived by his children, Sheldon Daisley (Jennifer), Candy Daisley (Mark), Trina Desmond (Oscar), Aaron Fraser (Stephanie) and Carla Fraser; grandchildren, Teesha, Meggan, Chester, Kasey, Haley, Caroline, and extra-special granddaughter, Braelyn; mother-in-law, Hannah; special nephew, Lloyd MacDanald (Theresa), special friend, Kenny Briand (Linda); sisters, Susie Dixon (Archie), Melba Asseff (Walter) and many nieces, nephews and neighbours.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Visitation will be held in St. Joseph's Church, Dingwall, on Friday, July 13, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Dingwall, with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating.
No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North of Smokey Palliative Care.
