CROWELL, Roswell Percy, 92, Barrington Passage, formerly of Bear Point, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital July 4, 2012, with family at his side. Born in Woods Harbour, son of the late Freeland and Jennie (Shand) Crowell. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather. Veteran of the Second World War which he served five years, ten months with West Nova Scotia Regiment Overseas England, 1939-1945; Sicily, Italy, 1943-1945; Holland, 1945. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #148 Clark’s Harbour. After the war he fished many years becoming an avid swordfish striker. He also worked for Scotia Marine and Department of National Defense retiring in 1978. His pastimes were socializing with people he would meet at stores in Barrington Passage. His greatest passion was hockey, he loved to travel around watching his grandsons play hockey. It gave him great pleasure. Also, he enjoyed the fishing industry and frequented the wharf to see who he could find to have a yarn. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, former Lena Madden; daughter, Patricia (Donnie); grandchildren, Christanna (Tony), Douglas, Derek (Trena); great-grandchildren, Chanelle, Faith, Kaylen, Brendan, Justin; great great granddaughter, Charlee May. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Pamela Jean; sisters, Doral, Barbara; brothers, Andrew, Carrol. A family visitation was held at Huskilson’s Funeral Home on July 6, 2012. Funeral and Legion services were held at Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel on July 7, 2012, Rev. Alvin McComisky officiated.
