ERICKSON, HENDRIK: Hendrik I. Erickson was born January 24, 1919 at Outlook, SK. He was the second child and a younger brother for Roy, born October 4, 1916 to Erling and Kari Erickson who had emigrated from Norway. Henry took his schooling in Outlook, SK. and an electrical course at Balfour Tech in Regina, then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II. Henry worked for the C.P.R. for nineteen years as a trainman and conductor as well as farming for his uncle at the same time. On February 6, 1967, Henry married Eva Bye of Coronation, AB. She was working as secretary for Mann Agencies in Outlook at the time. They made their home on the farm in the Kyle district for the past forty-five years. Henry`s main interest was farming but also included hunting and fishing, and camping with Eva at Lac des Iles. He also enjoyed photography, travelling to conventions with Eva in Vancouver, B.C., Calgary, Regina, Brandon MB, and Moncton N.B. The companionship of nieces and nephews was important as evident in their attendance at weddings and family gatherings in Cutknife, Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Coronation. Henry was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over fifty years. For the past five years Henry had been a resident of the Elrose Health Centre. He passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the age of 93 years. Henry leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Eva of forty-five years, nieces and nephews David Erickson of Surrey B.C., George (Peggy) Erickson of Swift Current, SK., Louise (Bob) Buchanan of Edmonton, AB., Warren (Holly) Lamb of Cold Lake, AB., and Faye (Bob) Shanner of Regina; and sister-in-law Lesley Erickson of Regina. He was predeceased by his father Erling in June 1920, mother Kari in Aug. 1955, brother Roy in Feb. 1999, and sister-in-law Lydia Erickson. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Kyle Lutheran Church, Kyle, SK. with Pastor Pat Simonson officiating. Interment Clearwater Cemetery.
