LORETTA CATHERINE MAGLIO (Nee Russell) August 4, 2008, Loretta Catherine (Sally) Maglio passed away quietly with her husband at her side. Sally was born January 16, 1925 in Big Valley, Alberta. The family of ten moved to Slocan City when she was 11 years old. At 19, Sally and her sister Lorraine enlisted in the army and were stationed in Prince Rupert. She loved music and played piano in a dance band in the Slocan Valley. In 1952, Sally moved to Nelson where she married Charles Maglio, her husband of 53 years. Together they raised three children. In the many homes where Sally lived after leaving Nelson in 1965, she created beautiful gardens. Sally was predeceased by her sisters Lorraine Routedge, Ruth Fraser and Stella Graham. Also, sadly, by her daughter Darlene Sonmor, December 13, 2007. She is survived by her husband Charles Maglio, son Wayne Maglio, daughter Wendy (Rick) Nichol. Grandchildren Samara (Chris) George, Shalla (Sheldon) Guertin, Sarin Burke, Pat Nichol, Trudy (Bo) Dagere, and Erica and Gina Maglio. Also great grandchildren Brandyn, Alec, Emma, Jacob, Jonah, Jayden, Desa-Rae, Parie, Rita. Sisters Vivian (Mel) Pasacreta, Elsie (Jerry) Altman, Isabel Cutler, and brother Frank (Hazeldean) Russell. As well as many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Cynthia Watson and all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Cancer Clinic and Hospice House for all their care and support.
