James William "Jim" Mingo
Mingo, James William “Jim” – 92, Truro passed away July 19, 2012 at home. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late William “Bill” and Dorothy (Steele) Mingo. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Pictou Highlanders and was overseas in England. He was the oldest of 17 children. He loved fishing and gardening. He is survived by children, James Jr. (Dorothy), Truro, Danny (Anita), Kingston, Ont., Deborah (Frank), Debert, Sherry (Roy), Truro, Paul (Gaby), Nancy, both of Kitchener, Ont., Chris (Cheryl), Antigonish; stepdaughter, Patsy, Truro; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby, Steve, Ronnie, Freddy; sisters, Phyllis, Helen, Mary, Annie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Hendrican); brothers, George, Edward, Donald, John, Tom; sisters, Hazel, Cathleen, Ruthie. Special thanks to Truro EMC, Truro Police, Dr. Singh and Dr. Curtis for their excellent care of our father. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23 from 1-2 pm, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 Tribute at 2 p.m. followed immediately with the funeral service, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Gary Yetman officiating. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association.
