BOWERS, Wallace “Bud” – 83, Waterford, Ontario. With the love of his family by his side, Bud passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at Norfolk General Hospital. Beloved husband and friend for 50 years of Lois (Goodwin); loving father and friend of Eric (Patti), Gary (Diane); proud “Papa” of Wesley, Carson, Mardon, Elyse and Elena; fondly remembered by special family member, Debbie Iwanyzki; dear brother of Rod and also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William Wallace and Ethel Grace Bowers; brothers, Wallace, Thomas, Norm, Harold, Doug, Lorimer; sisters, Helene, Phyllis. Bud was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, where he farmed until he moved to Waterford in 1966. He had a love for farming and attended Nova Scotia Agricultural College. Bud worked at Tobacco Auction Exchange, Duomatic, and later worked at Norfolk Board of Education, and self employed Janitorial Services. Bud was employed with City of Nanticoke as Superintendent of Cemeteries in City of Nanticoke. He served for many years on the Board of Waterford United Church and was Past Master of Wilson 113 Masonic Lodge. Bud and his family enjoyed spending many summers at the family cottage in his beloved Nova Scotia. Friends were received at Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford, Ontario from where the funeral service was held Thursday, Reverend Jeff Smith officiated. His remains are being transferred to Truro and Bud’s family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Interment to follow at Mahon Cemetery, 8480 Highway 2, Great Village.
